Edit of Singularity for tutorials 13 May

This is an edit of Singularity in preparation for tutorials. The first tutor thought the text was positioned in ways that weren’t helpful for the viewer to take in the information it divulges; he suggested the wording was odd and could be re-edited, and that there was too much text. Using text instead of voice over was questioned. He thought a couple of the chapters worked okay though.

The second tutor very carefully suggested there was too much text and that I might like to edit it down to take away a third of it. She liked the way the shots moved. She also questioned the use of text instead of voice over. She said the idea was a good conceit.

I edited the text down to half of what it was when I got home and thought about whether to use voice over. I decided against it because I never intended voice over – it was always going to be text; it ties in with the Jeanette Winterson text and the idea of letting people read it for themselves rather than an ‘authority’ putting inflection and emotion into it.
